About Shreya Ghoshal

Born in Berhampore West Bengal, India, Shreya Ghoshal’s musical journey began at the age of 4. She was brought up in a quaint little town Rawatbhata (near Kota, Rajasthan) where her scientist father Sh. Bishwajit Ghoshal was posted. She started with learning music mainly Bengali songs from her first Guru- her mother Smt. Sharmistha Ghoshal at the age of 4. Her formal training in Hindustani Classical Music started at the age of 6. Her real break came when she won Sa Re Ga Ma Pa where she impressed director Sanjay Leela Bhansali with her vocal prowess. She became the voice of the protagonist Paro played by Aishwarya Rai and went on to win a National Award for ‘Devdas’. With numerous trophies  including four national awards in her kitty she is one of the most prolific singers in the Indian film playback industry.
